One must learn to discern what brings about an events or give rise to another and relate the cause to its effect. Please explain this.

Discerment is the evaluation of right and wrong. A discerning person weighs the consequence of their decisions based on right and wrong. Do whatever is right because to do wrong is evil and sinful.

as far as I know , this means the correlation of events and thoughts, most of the happenings are brought about by us as we desire them intensely. the reason is due to our attachment to them.

If we are detached we may not feel the desire so intensely thus the cannot manifest. or in other words we have not created some more karma.

To be discerned is very difficult for the human mind as he see the event happening or heard or read that the event has occurred. This is where meditation comes handy where we just watch the thoughts and don't get involved with it.

it means that a person has to be wise enough to understand that an event is either the cause of somethin or simply another step in a process.

either it was caused by something or its part of something bigger.
