I am not sure I understand the question. But you are just fine. Just remember money has very little to do with happiness. If you can't be happy without it, you will not be truly happy with it.

No! .... you are certainly not poor - living at home, and just starting out - that's all!!

Let's put it this way, don't do as I did ... now 56 and only bought my first investment property 9 months ago!
I tried business at 30; but not well-researched at all, before entering into it. Got out [FORTUNATELY] in 4 months!!
Tried another at 37 ... did well for 12 months, then it dwindled.
Tried another for 4 years, but the shopping centre was very poorly facilitated by the centre owners, while all others around us continued to expand.

So, don't do as I did.

On the other hand, my 20 year-old nephew-in-law is already trying his hand at buying his first invcestment property while living at home ... but you need a steady job ... because if you have to sell up inside 2 years, you'll likely lose money.
If you can hold it at least 5, you'll make money.

A friend of mine [now owns 6 properties - all fully paid for long ago, with steady tenants for years now] bought his first property at 18.
He has rarely worked for years now ... but has had it so easy, he is often marching around half full of alcohol, because he knows not what to do with himself.
So if you start to do well, find some things very worthwhile to invest your time and mind in.
Learn new things and invent things, or something.
Go around doing public a service.

I have another friend - lovely fellow - who started his own fruit shop at 18 - had many of them before he was 30 and was a millionnaire. But he was a very generous person, and used to set up other blokes in his businesses.
Fortunately, he had a family of 5 children to keep him busy, taught them the business, and has been a very active leader in his Church for decades now.

So, hopefully, he's morally covered as well!!

So, as Matt H said, regardless of monetary situation, finding happiness and contentment and personal reward from life is an entirely different exercise again.

You live with your parents.

The only reason you are not "poor" is because you are 17.

Once you live with your parents over the age of 18 - you are poor. No matter how much money you have in the bank.
