Integration is nothing but extending the ideas or quatities that are kwown to small area to a large area by applying limitsof the respective area.

Summation is nothing but summing up or adding up of values or numbers or quantities between the two extremities or limits.

Think of Integration graphically - it gives the area under a curve (between defined limits) as long as you know the function producing the curve.

Summation is simpler - it is just the addition of a set of numbers.
