The question should actually be why DO men? The answer is because men have a greatly increased sex drive due to the high levels of testosterone. If men didn't have such high sex drives, we probably wouldn't be interested in sex outside of an emotionally satisfying relationship, either.
It has nothing to do with getting pregnant. If that was the only thing holding women back then women would behave just like men. Women don't have to get pregnant if they don't want to, and you can't tell me that men would care one way or the other if we could get pregnant!

I would have been offended if you wouldn't have pointed out that you were generalizing and apologized for any offense. Anyway, here's my take on it. As I'm sure you aware, almost every woman on this planet has had this silly idea that All men want is first and foremost..SEX. So, I'd say these women are pretty much prepared, well equipped and know what they're dealing with. Heck, most of them are on their guards 24/7, keeping a watchful eye for any preying men out there looking to mount her. In brief, women have a defense mechanism and they've commonly thought up a PLAN. So, in order to come to a consensus (where they find love, etc.), most women have learnt to manipulate guys into '' love ''. By teasing the guy, showing her cleavage, promising him sex, she knows that he will tag along as long as it takes for him to unload and join her in bed. And, by the time they do have sex for the first time, the guy usually falls in love with her. So, she's satisfied and he's somewhat satisfied, carrying an empty wallet. So, I believe you're seeing this the wrong way. Males and females always do end up bonding. Females simply trick men and prey and their weakness to get them. So, even if the guy wants casual flings, most of the time, girls will willingly REFUSE to consent to casual flings (so, it's a loss for guys) and will only accept a serious relationship. And unless the guy considers raping someone, he will have no choice but to start a relationship with a female. Everything falls in place so perfectly for you women, huh ? Nevertheless, it would be wrong to assume all guys are imbeciles who will fall for this crap. Some of us are capable of turning on that sexual switch in a woman's mind and body which will make her lust after sex much more than love. These guys are often alpha-males or players who can pull of such great feat. Because luckily, they've thought up a Plan of their own. ;)

Because girls know how easy it is to get emotionally attached after being intimate with someone, so to casually have sex without the baggage is difficult.
And it's so easy for u guys to get us girls pregnant and run away leaving the girl hanging.... and it ain't easy aborting or carrying and raising a baby without running away.

Because we are emotional creatures. We are into relationships. And we don't want to take a chance on getting an std, or aids, etc.
