Ok, perms are son 70's - 80's. if you do want to go for curls try ragging them the night or 2 before. you hair dresser will know. It is so much safer than a perm. Think about it...... all the products to permanently curl it VS ala natural. Perm VS Rags.

Go for rags.

Getting A Perm On Hair Longer Than "Shoulder Length" Rarely Results In Much Curl. Unless The Hair Is "Layered" Or Given A Spiral Perm. If Your Hair Is in Good Condition, You Should Be Able To Get A Perm. Check The Bridal Magazines And Hair Style Magazines For A Style You Like And Take The Picture To Your Salon And See If They Can Do It For You.

Perms by themselves are not bad. It's the people who do them with no understanding of the chemicals involved and what it can do to hair.

There's two types. Acid and Alcaline. Acid is best, as it doesn't blow the cuticle out by drastically changing the Ph level of the hair (which is 3.5 to 4.5)

Using a perm that produces it's own heat, is better than one that requires heat.

The size of the rod used matters a lot too. Too small and the curl is too tight. Too large and the perm loosens too much and can become straight in only some areas.

Processing it too long for the hair type will cause frizz, dryness, split ends, and breakage.

Failing to use sticks to lift the band off the rod will cause marks in the hair where the band is laying on it, and will cause breakage at that line.

Never ever get a perm before an important day... but only because the stylist can completely screw it up and give you bad hair for the next 2 years with your length.

The only problem with perms is that stylists aren't trained on them very well due to the fact that they're not stylish any more.

The number one problem is failure to rinse it out all the way, so that when they neutralize it, it locks perm solution into the hair, causing the process to continue well after you've left the salon. On your length, it should take a good 20 minutes to rinse it properly... but I'll bet you anything that if you go get one, they'll spend 5-10 rinsing, 5-10 to neutralize, and another 5 to rinse again. Not enough at all unless they're using a fire hose.

In the right hands, a perm would look amazing on your hair. I'm thinking a piggy-back spiral, using purple rods at the root, and orange for the ends.

Most salons order in two types of perms. One for colored hair, one for uncolored hair. They use them on everyone regardless of hair type. Some turn out good, some not.

By all means get a perm, but two weeks before the wedding, and only from a stylist who understands them.

A perm really messes up your hair because so much ammonina is being put in the hair. Ammonium Thygololate which is the chemical used for perming is one that can really damage the hair. Another downer of perming is that you are not allowed to wash your hair for at least 24 to 48 hours to avoid the risk of deactivating the perm. I mean the ammonia. What I reccomend personally is to use the chemical free approcach of styling your hair. Just use a quality curling iron. Explore all the wonderful different curling irons out there. There are ones that give you little curls, tight curls, loose curls, big curls you name it. The contrast the curling irons will give you is far more versatile than perming by far. Curling irons work by generating heat to style hair. After using a curling iron use a quality hairspray like tresseme for your look to hold and you will be just fine.

NO! Don't perm it. If your hair is that long and you perm it you will no longer be the girl your partner decided to marry in the first place. And besides; your hair probably looks absolutely beautiful just the way it is.
If you want curls, then just do it with dry curlers and heat OR wet curlers. With wet curlers; you first need to wet your hair-add mousse-roll the hair in the curling rods-let it dry over night or all day-then take out carefully-style hair-add a little hair spay and there you go-pure beauty.-oh ya, don't forget to have a ringlet on either side of your cheeks and the rest of it tied up or something.

Hope this gives you some ideas- I wish I was there-I would do it for you-it's to hard to explain over chat sites

Please remember you are already beautiful.

BAD BAD IDEA

Hair is so easy to curl with an iron, there is no excuse for a perm anymore. Perms can go awefully wrong. You don't want to have to wear a wig for the big day!
If you have long beautiful straight hair you are a perfect candidate for the Triple Barrel Curling Iron!!! That is unique and looks GREAAAAT! If you don't know what the triple barrel curling iron does to the hair, you'll be pleasantly surprized when your stylist shows you.

Not a perm...it's very hard on texture of your hair in all ways. I think a beautiful way to wear your hair is up. Film stars have pictures--and many of them look fantastic with it up...maybe curls at the back. The best thing to do, is start going through magazines and find examples of what you like, and take it to your hair guy-girl and see what it'll look like on you? Congrats on your big day!

a perm isnt so bad to your hair but it will grow out. once your hair grows really long the curls will only be at the bottom of your hair. so then all yo have to do is cut off the curls.

You must be very careful with a perm! You have to take a lot of factors into consideration and a lot of things can go wrong.
