It could be a variety of things: mange, fleas, allergic reaction to things. My dog had fleas over the summer and licked spots on her body until there was no hair (she had to get treatment from the vet). She also has allergies too. I can only use Tide to wash clothes, towels and other items. I also use a dog shampoo with oatmeal which helps her skin. I also put a brewer's yeast and garlic formula which I sprinkle over her food to help her skin.

Don't ever wash your dog with human shampoo...it can be harmful for them. You may have to have a vet look at the spot and make sure there's nothing like mange/mites causing the hair loss. Sometimes a topical ointment is all that's necessary...

Sounds like mange to me. But a reaction to human shampoo is a possibility too.

You could try, not using human shampoo and see if it gets worse. If it does, see a veternarian, for treatment.
