i have a 'dominant' german shepherd.. and ive fallen in love with a teacup chiwawa cross. im thinking of going down to the shop tomorow and buying the teacup. both dogs are female, the teacup is a puppy and my german shepherd is 6 years old.
any ideas of how i can introduce them to eachother, without my german shepherd getting the urge to eat the chiwawa for breakfast.
all ideas GREATLY appreciated!!

its not a typical pet shop, i dont really know what it would be classified as.. hence why i simply said shop.. im pretty sure they buy from breeders and sell at a higher price, i know i end up being ripped off, but i dont mind.

Hey i got a 7 years old german shepherd. She is a female, too. She hates other dogs but last year i got a mini pinscher from the internet. She was smaller than a coke can!2 days i let the shepherd smell the puppy and then i just put the puppy in her basket and since that it's like a mama and her baby! Dogs know who belongs in their family! Of course you have to watch them for a while because puppys can really piss off older dogs. And even if it is a dog from the pet store, i know breeders who have sick dogs and stuff, too. If that is the dog you really want then it's destiny you saw him and just get it! Good luck!

Hey, I understand the "not a typical pet shop" mentality. I thought that about where I got my dog.
When we brought her home and really looked at the paperwork I discovered she came to us through the Hunte's corporation, the biggest puppy broker in America. To add to that, her father isalso her grandfather.
Another word of caution is that anything listed as teacup is simply a super small, usualy unhealthy, example of a breed.
wouldn't get the dog, and I know how horrible it seems to leave it there. But look at it this way, if the store has only a certain capacity for puppies they will not order more while they are full. If none of the petstores across the nation are ordering puppies, the demand will drop like a rock and the millers will be forced to quit. It's a shame that so many puppies and dogs will be hurt in the process...
No pet-store of any kind gets from good breeders, as no good breeder willsell their puppy to a store that will sell the puppy to someone who may turn around and use it to start their own mill. Reputable breeders care way too much.

A reputable breeder would never give their pups to a store to sell, they want to know who you are and be sure you are the right person to be raising one of their dogs, they will not sell to just anyone, believe me the pup you want is a puppy mill dog and if you get theis pup you stand the risk of having a dog with lots of health problems.
How is your shepherd around other dogs? If your shepherd is prey oriented does not get along with other dogs there may be no safe way to have a small dog in your house,
I used to be a foster parent for retired greyhound and part of what I had to do, was assess the dogs to see if they could live safely with small dogs and cats, that meant introducing them to small animals while on leash an muzzled to test their reactions, if they showed too much interest for example in a cat and were hard to distract then they were deemed unsafe, if they showed interest but focus could be broken, then they were cat correctable, that meant very close introductions muzzled and leashed for a bit corrected with a stern no if they lunged for the cat, once okay on leash they were left muzzled but allowed off leash and spray bottle with water with good aiming range was incorporated into the training, so got squirted and verbally correct any time they made a move on the cat but always closely supervised and seperated when I sould not supervise, the muzzle only came off when I was a 100% sure they would not try to chase, when you have such an extreme difference in size it is best to have the animal go out to the yard at seperate times especially early on, and even if 100% sure in the house when using the yard togetrher muzzling should be done again and spray bottle, for the longest time it is best to supervise all outings continually especially shepherd likes to chase squirrels , birds etc, as the excitement of a chase can, get them wanting more and they could decide the chi could be suddenly fun to chase

You're thinking of going to the SHOP? As in the PET SHOP? Please, save yourself the heartache and DO NOT SUPPORT PUPPIES IN PET SHOPS. They come from puppy mills which breed un-healthy, sick, old dogs every single heat until they are unable to produce pups anymore. Then, they slaughter the mums. They send the pups off in trucks when they are just 4 weeks old and sell them at auctions where brokers buy them and sell them to pet stores.
There is NO SUCH THING as a "TEACUP" ANYTHING! They are simple, easy scams where they are trying to sell un-healthy, small RUNTS for heaps more than the breed at the "normal" size.
Look at the Chihuahua club (US, UK, AUS... whatever country you live in) and they will have a list of ethical and reputable Chihuahua breeders that will give you tips on how to feed the pup, introduce the pup, socialize the pup, how to care for the pup, health information and a whole lot more.
All pet shops want is your money. They don't care about you. They don't care about the puppy. They care about their profit. They aren't going to give you any help at all.
DO NOT SUPPORT PET SHOPS! DO NOT SUPPORT PUPPY MILLS!
Edit: I can 100% positively tell you that NO breeder would EVER sell to ANY kind of STORE. You are buying this puppy from a PET STORE which SUPPORTS PUPPY MILLS!

To the shop? As in pet shop? Please don't do that.. You are supporting puppy mills when you buy from pet shops.. Find a good breeder and support an ethical breeder not a mill..
As for your dog, he will adjust with time as long as u still show him the same attention..

Yeah hold your puppy in your hand and introduce them together so if they don't like each other you will know and be able to keep them apart so they don't hurt each other.
