I open doors, wait until she eats before I eats, and try to follow her lead....however, I don't stand up when she stands up...
I never done it...and to me it feels wierd and unnatural...
Am I suppose to stand up when she stands up? Who does it? Is it expected?

You are already ahead of your competition, you're doing great! Honestly nowadays we no longer even expect you to open the door for us! You are a rare breed, where can I find one like you? LOL Ok so the only time you should really stand up when we do is when we are leaving. If we excuse ourselves to use the restroom just go with it. Just do whatever feels the most comfortable to you. Women can always see right through someone that is trying to be something the are not.

Proper society dining requires men to stand when a female leaves or returns to the table. Proper manners shoudl be to guide her chair. It's an old custom done to accomodate women's clothing. Hoops and petticoats made it virtually impossible to rise or sit without guidance.
Did you know you should walk on the outside when on sidewalk? This habit comes from people thowing garbage and bed pans out the window. If man walked on outside, women's clothes weren't dirtied. You should take her lead when it comes to everyday stuff. HOWEVER...if you plan to dine with high society you should learn proper manners. emilypost.com is a good place to start. Keep in mind though, military affairs have different formats than regular high society/

Only do what feels comfortable to you. It's not very often you find a man that does what you do already.Women should appreciate you for who you are and expect nothing in return except your love.

Please, you are trying way to hard. Why not concentrate on your conversation and less on formalities. Women don't like it when men act the way you describe.
