paul,

There, you said it...short and sweet. Others will come here and you'll be bombarded with shrill liberal pseudo-logic...hey, they can tell the world 2 + 2 = 3 all day long, as loud as they want...only the weak minded will accept it as truth.

The only way these people will begin to understand is to (God forbid) have Islamo-fascist terrorists show up at their local mall and start a killing spree. I for one would much rather fight them AWAY from home and keep up the pressure on these wackos. Hey, no incidents since 9/11, and if clinton had done his job, it would have never happened.

So many Americans are confused and mislead because they get their information from biased and dishonest sources like conservative talk radio, Fox News and the republican party. They tell you they are on your side, and they tell you things you want to believe so you keeping eating up their lies and propaganda. When their lies are exposed they just distract you with something else. You people need to check out and verify your sources.

The terrorists are trying to find ways to attack us here right now. They just can't stage these attacks from across the world as easily or as often as they would like. It took 8 years from the time of the 1st WTC bombings until the 9/11 attacks occurred. President Bush spent most of his 1st year as president on vacation and his administration did nothing with the warnings they received about terrorists determined to attack the US and fly planes into buildings. Now we are supposed to believe this administration is doing a good job keeping us safe from more attacks?

The invasion and occupation of Iraq does not make one ounce of sense if the goal was to reduce terrorism against the United States. It also made no sense as a response to the 9/11 attacks because Iraq was not involved in those attacks. The Bush Administration was planning to invade Iraq before 9/11/01. The real reason for this war is control and influence over the most oil rich region on earth. The Bush administration lied about intelligence on Iraq to justify the war after they could not pressure the CIA into finding enough evidence to support their agenda. The invasion and occupation of Iraq was a foolish and costly mistake, and it has multiplied by 1000 times the number of enemies who want to attack America. It also diverted important resources away from the war in Afghanistan.

Stop being so scared. They are not coming to your back yard, and they are not going to defeat America. Don't be so gullible. Do yourself and your country a favor and look for sources of information that are not trying to sell you anything.

Didn't Roosevelt say "There is nothing to fear but fear itself".Look 9/11 was a shocking act but lots of country have been under constant threat from terrorists how would USA have coped if they had been under siege like Britain when the IRA were terrorizing them or Spain from the Basque the way they have responded to 9/11 shows how paranoid they are and starting a war in Iraq has only made it worse.

Because some at least ought to be.

The war was sold on bad reasons.
(Iraq, not Afghanistan: there's a big difference.
But invading Iraq has made the real fight in Afghanistan much more difficult. "Eye off the ball")

The plans for handling Iraq after the initial combat were flawed where they weren't non-existent.
The warnings about the likelihood of *stimulating* rather than suppressing terrorism were ignored:
kill one fanatic, his brother will want revenge.
Accidentally kill an innocent family, and you've recruited dozens against you.

You probably have more individuals willing to attack Americans today that you did four years ago. A fair proportion of those attacking US troops in Iraq have been drawn there, and are not Iraqi.

This is in no way criticism of the troops. They simply shouldn't have been placed in that situation.

No. I've not been in the military. But I've done my time with bombs and terror (heard four, felt one, plus another close miss)

It's easy to be confused about the war. The media makes sure there is so much clutter on this it is really had to get any good answers or information.

As Americans we put a lot of faith in the media to tell us what we need to know because we are to busy living life. That's the main issue.

The war in Iraq does nothing to keep terrorists from coming here. Basic intelligence and law enforcement keeps them from coming here.

Neither Bush's war nor his compromise of our constitutional rights was ever necessary.

It was only necessary in 2001 that he pay attention to the job he was elected to do, which unfortunately conflicted with his vacation plans.

The terror is within your own mind. The war will not stop the terrorists for there will always be those that wish to frighten you into making bad decisions. It is not your back yard you should be afraid for it should be your front.

For all of you stupid ignorant idiots that answer questions and don't know what the heck you are talking about except what you get from the media, PLEASE KEEP YOUR MOUTHS SHUT AND OPINIONS TO YOURSELVES. I bet pretty much anyone who has a negative opinion on the war has never been over there and only watches the media when troops kill "innocent" kids and people. What they don't show is 30 seconds before when that stupid worthless kid threw a grenade in a humvee killing 4 innocent troops serving our country so ignorant money thirsty liberals, media and news personel can fill their wallets and get in office to run this country. I hope the terrorists come to the USA and the troops stop fighting them. Then every ignorant "American" can see what it's like to live in fear. The fear of their child being sold into prostitution, being killed, fear of their life, fear that if they say what they feel, they will be killed. What us soldiers, troops, sea men, fly boys are doing is helping the rest of the world. DON'T COMMENT IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. OVER 80% OF THE TROOPS OVER THERE WANT TO BE OVER THERE AND MORE THAN 85% OF THE PEOPLE IN THAT COUNTRY WANT US THERE. THE MEDIA ONLY SHOWS THE 5-10% THAT DON'T AND THEN STUPID IGNORANT AMERICANS BASE THEIR OPINION ON WHAT THEY SEE IN THE MEDIA. I WOULDN'T KNOW THOUGH, I HAVE ONLY BEEN THERE 3 TIMES

Because most Americans don't really care that much.

Nothing that has happened in Iraq, Afghanistan, or a few other places that don't get any press has directly affected them one bit.

They haven't served, and they likely don't have any family or close friends who have.

Their exposure is limited to five minutes a night on the network news.
