In the US, you must have a valid form of ID to enter the gate areas, much less get on the plane.

That would be "no" to that question.

In the US, you need to present valid ID when you check into your flight, and at airport security. A valid foreign passport is fine - you don't have to be a legal US resident to travel within the United States. If your passport is expired, and you don't have any form of ID, then you may not be able to get your boarding pass, and you definitely won't get through airport security.

It has to be a government issued ID, as well. I tried to give them my school ID once and they wouldn't take it, and I had to give them my drivers license instead. It's fine if it's issued by a foreign government if you're not a US citizen, but it does have to be issued by a government, and it has to still be valid.

Not after the States are forced to compy with REAL ID. Read about it. I bet you'll feel screwed over when you learn what it is.
