yes, science is very hard to believe in bec there are lots and lots of theories about this world and mankind...and neither of it has been proven....there are lots of doubts about God and neither of it has been proven also... on the other hand, the existence and love of God for us has been proven over and over again...but anyway how could you see it if everytime you guys do, all you say is that those people are crazy.. you say "to see is to believe.." yeah ryt, even if you've seen God's healing power...you still look at it with both blind eyes....

The purpose of life is to give it a purpose! Biologically, life is all about making more of us, but since we are humans, let's make it more interesting!

The thing about miracles is, the more you look into them, the less spectacular they are. People will proclaim that the Virgin Mary has appeared as an image within the grains on their door. Or in their toast. Perhaps they're not stupid, but they're very quick and very willing to declare something a miracle.

So then you ask, 'there's got to be something more than just something that happens in our head'. Well what exactly does happen in their heads? As it happens, we know for a fact that we're geared to instantly recognize a face, so whenever a random pattern starts to resemble a face, we'll see it instantly. It jumps right at us.

Having said that: The universe is a remarkable place, and the way people work, think and act are remarkable as well. Not believing in a god doesn't mean I'm not awestruck by the kindness and determination by some people who impress me. I just don't happen to think that they act on behalf of some divinity.

As an atheist, I hold life in high regard...it's the only one humans get.

Death is the only thing that we are assured of in this life. It's the natural balance of life, and yes, when you die...that's it. Game over.

The soul is a human conceit, brought about by a human's need to be more than it is. It's also a product of the fear of death, used to assuage that fear by promising an invisible, immaterial part of you goes on forever. The only way to live after death, is in the memories of others.

As for the next part of your questioning: Given what we have seen performers pull off (Copperfield making the Statue of Liberty disappear, for example), miracles are fairly commonplace, and are usually either a trick of the mind...because of believing in it...or sleight of hand. Medical science is not always exact, and there are things that we don't know...yet. The human survival instinct is a very strong thing, and can be attributed with many cases of recovery where it was not believed to be possible. Faith healing on the other hand is a sham...actors feigning illness/injury, and 'miraculously' being 'healed' rakes in quite a bit of money. Feeling one's dead loved ones...a persons memories can be strong enough, that when combined with belief and hope can cause one to believe that these things happen. Not one single case has ever been proven...only taken at face value by those who wish it to be so.

A statement of yours in the additional details section reveals a lack of knowledge about scientific study. The word theory, when used in a technical sense such as science, means a statement that has been verified numerous times, and is backed up by evidence. It is the logical conclusion to study, and is considered fact. The only time it means 'guess' is in a non-technical application...your theory that the neighbors cat got into your trash. It's in the dictionary...you can look it up.

Yes I believe that you are born, you live, then you die. It is the nature of what we have. As for miracles and such not one thing has ever been proven. Healings for example are a farce as not one has ever been proven and the challenge is out there. For a long time there was an offer of one million by a group of doctors for proof of one faith healing. And the terms were generous, the healer does the healing in his own chosen environment at the time of his choosing with the patient of his choosing. All that was asked was a right to examine the patient before and after the "faith healing". Not one person ever even attempted to take them up on their offer, and I'm not even sure if it's still up or if they gave up. Suffice it to say that Benny Hinn never showed,an neither did anyone else, case closed as far as I'm concerned.

"people aren't that crazy and stupid..."

Maybe not ALL of them, but the human mind is extraordinarily adept at fooling us into feeling, seeing, and remembering things that we never felt, saw or experienced. In the case of healing, there is more times than naught a placebo affect that occurs, if not a con to begin with. I've never heard of a miracle healing an amputee have you?

Souls are supposedly immaterial. So how can they influence that which is material, like the body?

Life After Death is a concept created by the fearful minds of those scared of death. Would Vikings have gone into battle had they not believed a glorious death would bring them to Valhalla? Probably not. Would the Catholic church have made money off indulgences if people didn't believe in Life After Death? Would suicide bombers exist?

The concept of Heaven, Hell, etc.. is a method of manipulation. "Give me 10% of your earnings." "Fight my war for me." "Do what I say." This is what we as atheists hear all the time, filtered from the mumbo jumbo religious leaders spew forth.

When you look to the evidence science has brought forth you realize humans are nothing but quivering mounds of flesh on an insignificant speck in the universe. Our lives are meaningless, but that doesn't mean we can't make the most out of it.

Yes that's about the way it is and you are very wrong. Yes people are that crazy and stupid. They are called Christians. You can wrap yourself in a cocoon of ignorance like them and live out your life in fear of the fantasy boogie Man Satan jumping out and biting you in the butt. Or you can think for your self and reason. If there is a God why did he do all that stupid crap that the Bible says he did. Does it make sense or how about science is it that hard to believe.

Atheists just do not believe in the existence of a god. The rest are up to individuals.

You are right to believe people aren't crazy and stupid, but then you should know sometime psychological factors are more then physical truth.

People aren't that crazy and stupid, eh? Ok, let's take a guess at this one then. What percentage of people who declare themselves to be God would you consider holy and what percentage would you say belong in an asylum? I'm guessing that asylum would get 100% if we rounded to the nearest percent.

Personally I think it's pretty "crazy and stupid" to waste every sunny Sunday morning sitting in a stuffy building, comparing clothing with other folks, and listening to some jerk-off ask for money in the name of his gods.
Life is what you make it. The way I see it, if you make life better for other people, and leave good memories of yourself behind, that's the definition of immortality.

The problem is they only think with their intellect, not with their spirit.

They limit themselves to what they can see, touch, taste and understand.
