YES! I have had a chemical relaxer on my hair. It is exactly like a perm except you comb the hair straight and then leave it, then wash it out.
A perm doesn't actually make your hair curly. A perm (short for permanent) actually deconstructs the protein bond in your hair making it completely shapeless or straight. A perm is typically a 2 step process and after the hair bonds are deconstructed and wrapped around curlers, the 2 part is applied re-bonding the hair to it's new shape around the curlers. You however do not need to put your hair around curlers, your could put it around anything, popsicle sticks or just comb it striaght with a plastic comb.

Word of caution, this is very hard on hair!!! I was very pleased with the results after the first day or so.
My hair was so straight (but stinky like perm) and then a week later OMG!
After showering, I would go to comb out my hair to detangle it and my hair would just stretch and break!!!!!!!! It was so scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get it done professionally by someone who does it often. NO hairstylists wanted to touch my hair because they know how easily things can go wrong so they just all told me "why would you want to straighten your hair" so i did it myself.
I'm not sure that It would be any less risky if you got it done by a professional as they really don't have that much experience usually either. But at least you'll be able to blame someone.
Make sure if you get it done you get Redken CAT Reconstructor. Or the Redken EXtreme conditioner and shampoo. Also NIOXIN is what saved my hair (basically from falling out, after my relaxing treatment) NIOXIN THANKYOU.
I don't recommend relaxing treatments for hair because 1.
they damage hair so bad that what good is it straight if it's falling out and looks like frayed nylon threads.
2. you'll regret it
3. I was told all this and did it anyway because I dreamed of asian like straight healthy hair straight out of the shower, but that does not happen. It's won't be straight right out of the shower you'll still have to blow dry it straight, but it'll take less time, but then after you do your hair will resemble Garth's off of wayne's world
TRUST ME
or don't, but then remember NIOXIN

Go to a salon which does Black people's hair or look in the ethnic section of your pharmacy Cosmetic Section and buy any of the following straight perms. TCB RELAXER, REVLON RELAXER, BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL RELAXER ETC. Apply to dry hair which has not been shampooed in the last 24 hours and comb through from root to ends. (Read the enclosed instructions carefully) This procedure should only take a few minutes particularly if you have fine hair and then wash with very warm water and then shampoo a few times and condition once. You will not have to repeat this treatment for at least four-six months or even longer. Your hair will be straight and you won't need any cosmetics or special care to keep it that way-just wash and go.

YES!! its called a relaxer i get it done about every 3 monthes at the hair dressers. what it does is it straightens your hair from the roots down, and will keep it straight for a good 2-3 monthes. its kinda costly though most hair salons charge about $80. for it. But just be careful because some people get side effects such as. Hair breakage, hair thinning, lack of hair growth, scalp irritation, scalp damage, hair loss.

if your hair is naturally curly- you can go to any store and pick up a perm solution/or a perm kit with the solution, put that in your hair and comb it straight for however long it says to leave it in - keep combing it- you'll see it go straight. it lasts a while.
or go to the salon and get the chinese straightner. it lasts for a long time.
