Ok .. got mine pulled last monday, and it is now about to be at a week tomorrow & my mouth still aches. Only thing that works is percoset, but can't drive, can't concentrate at school .. etc.. tried the Aleve the doctor told me about but doesn't work, makes my tummy hurt. The pain is making my whole head hurt. I am about to run out of narcotics and don't know what to do. I have not smoked once (and I'm a smoker) and rinsed and did what I was supposed to do! I see the doctor tomorrow at 7am .. but what do you all think is wrong? Thanks so much for the help, I'm miserable! :o(

To answer a couple questions that have been asked so far in discussion: I think all my stitches came out while rinsing my mouth .. and I'm going to be mad if it is dry socket since I "so called" did everything to PREVENT getting it!!
LOL :) Sorry for being a baby, its just extreme pain & my percosets are starting to kick in ~~!!

It's called dry sockets and the dentist is going to have to pack the holes in.

I did that for a week with a pulled tooth (I couldn't sleep, was crying, drinking alcohol, taking pain pills, anything to get rid of it). Had no clue why I couldn't get relief. It may even smell a bit bad in your mouth from the infection.

I could even fill my jaw pulsing from the pain. If you ever have to have another tooth removed BE SURE to tell them you suffer dry sockets.

They'll give you a little shot and stuff in some medicated gauze.

Please do post back and let us know. I'm curious.

Do you still have stitches in? I had a tooth pulled out (not a wisdom tooth) and it was a nasty experience because the tooth kept breaking so it was difficult to get out. They had to cut a lot of my gums and then stitch them up. The pain didn't go away until I went back to have the stitches out and then it was almost instantly much better.
The pain will go, just can be quite slow with traumatic dental surgery. Gargle salt water as well. Might sting a bit but it will keep it clean and cut down the risk of infection.

When I got my teeth pulled, I was in terrible pain for a long time, couldn't even talk it hurt so much. Finally I figured out that when they told me to bite on the gauze, because my mouth was numb, I bit down too hard for too long. I tried stretching my jaw muscles by opening and closing my mouth as wide as I could a few times. As painful as it was, the pain subsided almost immediately afterward. If it's not dry sockets, this might help! I hope you feel better soon! :)

I emphasize, I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I know that Aleve and other ibuprofen drugs cause stomach pain if you do not have food or liquids in your stomach. Try a Slim-fast shake or a milkshake before you take your Aleve. I have seen Oral gel for tooth pain. I have put beeswax on tooth pain site and moist tea bags around the gum area. The beeswax protects the site from abrasion and the tea bags cushion the site.

Um...I think you need to go see the dentist. I got two wisdom teeth pulled and the pain never last for more than two days for either. However, for the last wisdom tooth, I did suffer some permanent nerve damage. The damage was not critical and I never really notice it unless I make myself aware of it. But a week is way to long to feel pain in your mouth.

It's suppose to hurt! Getting wisdom teeth pulled out is a b*tch. I recommend drinking a lot of water and catching extra sleep. Another thing you can do is just accept pain, and realize it is only a feeling, and feelings can be ignored. That works for me.

you still feel pain after removal of wisdom tooth, maybe is due to the tooth socket infection, commonly known as dry socket. For better diagnosis, seek the professional advice form your dentist.
