ahhhh, you didn't give enough info...does he have another girlfriend/wife/??? Sometimes that makes a difference in how you may react to a person. If he doesn't, I mean, if he's available, then make sure you look d*** fine and then just wait for him to come and talk with you...don't worry, he will. Follow his lead in the conversation. Give him that girl flirty look, smile as if you have a wonderful secret, practice all of your feminine wiles on him. You just might get him back!
Good luck and have fun.

Drop your thoughts on liking him. At the party, don't approach him rather let him approach you if he wants to have or strike a conversation with you. Be spontaneous. Don't have to think hard about what to say. Do what you would do when you first meet someone else.

it all depends on how the relationship ended. I have nothing to say to my ex from 6 years ago. But that's just me, maybe he'll be different

DO NOT GO!
Let the past, be the past, girl... It's been 6yrs... SIX YEARS!
Lets also be honest, you don't love him, you love what you had. To say you still love someone after 6yrs of no contact isn't love, its you fooling yourself.
If you go your just going to hurt yourself. Because your going to expect something and get nothing. You probably play it out in your mind all the time, "what if he...." what if I...." what if we..." Don't do it!

Go up to him, shake his hand and say "it's good to see you. You look well". then say "well, enjoy the party". At this point you excuse yourself and walk away. You then mingle with everyone else adn if he wants to talk to you he'll approach you. If he looks at you from across the room then smile at him briefly then quickly look away.

well he probably may feel nervous too. But you could be like, Hey, how's it going? What are you up to? Something that won't make you feel even more awkward. Just be simple
