If you're not getting adequate excercise, could be due to that. Our metabolism slows down as we age and we have to compensate with excercise and diet. Good that you have a handle on it already and are not just going to sit around watching tv. Are you taking any prescription meds such as steroids for copd or other problems? I was your size and rather quickly packed on an extra 50 pounds because of meds. Have lost about 15 of that by following a diabetic diet; lo carb and work out to increase metabolic rate. Talk to a doctor before you go on a diet though and avoid the Hollywood crash diets which can put you at risk for heart problems.

Eat only when hungry and that too not more than three times a day. Include uncooked vegetables and fresh fruits in ur meals. No food/drink other than water in between. Chew each morsel at least 32 times and u will notice that u get intuition to stop eating as soon as u have had enough.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve ur ideal weight in a reasonable period. Do not panic to loose it fast.

What size are you now? Just do some exercise and that will help you tone up. If you want to lose weight just follow a sensible eating plan, increase your intake of fruit and vegetables and if you have been eating lots of foods that are high in fat, just cut down on them

Listen I would love to be a size 8. And a little weight isn't going to hurt you. Enjoy life. Stop worrying.

If you have put on a lot of wait in a short period of time without changing your habits significantly I would go see your doctor, it can be the sign of a hormone imbalance
