Well rape is obviously wrong but lets define rape, the use of someone sexually against their will or without their consent. I say that because I assure you that when I was a 14,15,16,17 year old young man I would have absolutely loved to have some of the women who have recently made the news as my teacher. And I know I'm not alone it's just that a minority of those who agree with me have the marbles to admit it. You cannot rape the willing, and just because we as a society put an artificial age on when someone should be allowed to engage in sexual activity does not mean that number in any way resembles the realities of human biology. In fact whether anyone wants to admit it a large percentage of the cases involving 15 -17 year old girls having sex with older males also involve a very willing "victim". What is the funniest is that we have the most restrictive laws in the civilized world when it comes to age of consent, prostitution and pornagraphy yet we have some of the highest incidence of rape, incest, child molestation, child porn, teen pregnancy, etc. So hows that whole puritan mindset working out?

Fundy Xian here.
Rape is abhorrent. But as the user above me (ennadade...) has serendipitous pointed out, many people do not think it is possible for a woman to rape a man. Culture today says that all men want to have sex all the time and therefore it is impossible to raped by a woman. This is simply not true.
It is a fact that statistically speaking men are physically stronger than women. This reinforces the notion that a man can not be raped by a woman. I disagree.
In addition to these stereotypes, you also have to deal with the fact that beauty is so highly valued and prized in our society that we tend to overlook the wrongdoings and faults of people we find attractive. I think this is contributing to the double standard you see in the court room with regard to these beautiful female teachers on trail.
How to fix it? End the double standard, first in your mind, then teach it to your children. Teach your children that sex is not a commodity to be bought and sold.

You asked for the Christian prospectus: 1 Cor 10:23-24.
The Jewish tradition regarding rape is found in the Leviticus.
The teacher student relationship is complicated. The teacher you are describing deals with a minor. You will find teachers of both sexes violating the teacher student relationship.

You put the question to Christians and put religion in parentheses. So, Biblically, rape is rather well tolerated and in some cases encouraged. There was a great deal of kill all the men but keep the virgins for yourself kind of stuff. And then there is the very nice bit about if you rape a virgin, you have to marry her and she cannot divorce you.
Personally, I find this reprehensible. But I find a lot of what's in the Bible reprehensible.

"But yet when females rape children " Oh thats ok, no problem.""
To whom is it "no problem"? I've never encountered anyone who believed it was alright for women (or anyone) to sexually assault children.
I have encountered people, on the other hand, who've asked "Well, what was she wearing?" when they find out a woman was raped.
You speak of double standards? They are everywhere and they are wrong.

People are idiots aren't they? They seem to think females have more self control, and wouldn't do something so inappropriate. But that astronaut should tell you something. And Mary Kay Letourneau. These cases should tell you something: Women are just as capable of men of irrational behavior and violence.

I have been raped by both sexes.
You're right with your analysis. Men are no more capable of sex crimes any more than woman are. Rape from either gender is equally harmful and confusing.

it is generaly pressumed it is the male that is agressive so it is harder to think of a woman raping as such that does not mean they can not abuse or take advantage of young men.

I believe this type of discrimination is wholey based on the fact that a penis is more of a weapon than a vagina.
To violate someone by penetration is the ultimate crime to everyone, but to rape a child when the rapist is using a vagina is a whole different story.

Atheism. You know it makes sense.
