er a good friend. It is easier to get over these feelings by distancing myself from them and concentrate on the relationship?

I think we are biologically wired to be attracted to many types of people to keep us reproducing. So yes, it is possible to be in a happy relationship but be attracted to someone else. The question is the actions that go along with it. It you do something with this person you will be cheating and you will lose what you have now. I suggest if you have overwhelming feelings for someone else, stay away from them or you may end up in divorce court.

If you are really happy in your relationship, those feelings should disappear fast... if they stick in there, something must be wrong. Think about it :)
