your future is preordained, "written in the stars" so to speak or do you think we create our own future based on the decisions we make

"The fault, dear Brutus, lies not in our stars, but in ourselves."

We make our own lives by the choices we make. Usually we don't realize all of the consequences of our actions until much later, though.

While it may seem to be sometimes that there is some validity to the concept of destiny or the pre-ordained nature of life it seems to me to be impossible, since even the tiniest decision can affect your future. Where you decide to place your lead foot as you step out of a tub can literally be the deciding factor between going on with your day just like every other and spending the day in the hospital. Everyday life is the very essence of chaos theory, completely out of our control and capable of being forever altered by something as simple as taking your next step. If in this environment destiny can exist then we have no need to make any decision, ever, because it would mean even the most minute of details of our lives have been decided for us. And in an environment like that what's the point?

Of course our own future is based on the decisions we make plus a lot of other things. The conditions under which we were born and raised. And some luck can play a factor. But luck can be good or bad. Neither the stars, God or the supernatural has anything to do with it.

I would like to think that life was preordained as then it wouldn't be my fault, but talking of decisions; that pic? Bad choice. And just as i say that Everton score against and subsequently beat Arsenal

There are only two wills that count. God's and yours. Your choice is which to serve.
Jesus prayed: Not my will, but thine by done.

So two things:

1. Many decisions but only one choice. Once a choice has been made decisions are part of the path. Do read Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost.

2. There are limits placed on us as there are bounds for the ocean. If you don't make a choice, decisions are only designed to lead to a choice.

The world of decisions seems exciting and it is. But the life where decisions follow choice is awesome. The major trends in your life should show you this principle.

Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand.
But I know who holds tomorrow,
and I know He holds my hand.

The latter of your 2 offers, definately!
Yet, not to the exception of "time & unforeseen occurances".

I believe in both, yes we can make our own way, choose our own path.... but then how do we know that the path we choose, isn't actually the one that was, as you say 'preordained' for us?!?!

People are a product of their decisions

not their environment. Environment or circumstance may create a disposition to act a certain way, but it all boils down to how you decide.

I'd find it depressing if my future was already set. We create our own futures. There's just too many possibilities for it all to be left up to fate.

Let me give a better answer....

Believe in karma. Whatever you get today is from the past (life) and what gain in future is from now.

Whether the stars can tell, it doesn't matter, it can't change anything, it can only tell.

I used to think that everything happens for a reason, but lately I have begun to think that we create reality with our choices and actions, and then because we are human we try to find meaning in our situation.
