Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Easter, Early May Bank Holiday, Spring Bank Holiday, August Bank Holiday. These are official holidays when most of us have the day off work and so on.
Then you have Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night which are famous celebrations.

christmas and easter are the obvious ones, then there is new year, valentine's day, may day, hallowe'en, guy fawkes/ fireworks night. There are other days which are more or less celebrated depending on where you are, each country has it's own patron saint, but only saint patricks (ireland) is really celebrated, partly due to american influence, partly as a good excuse to drink I believe. Mother's day and father's day.

Unfortunately, the one's that are rammed down our throats more often these days are the likes of Ramadan etc. Does make me wonder.
