Many public-schools now offer study at home programs. In Oregon it is called Connections Academy. There are other public homeschool programs that come under the umbrella of charter schools.

Why bother?

The education that you can get through many private home-school plans is far superior to that offered by the government.

You can also study entirely on your own with material found in your local library and on the internet.

The diploma is just a piece of paper to someone that can ace the college SAT. If you are computing math equations with accuracy for 1 to 2 hours, writing a clear and compelling
essay, and reading from the best of literature, history and science books; these three things EVERY DAY, you will be well on your way to obtaining a very high score on the college SAT. Your scores will reflect the amount of work that you have done.

A simple plan along with a strong work ethic will help you to build study habits that will last for a lifetime.

Well the thing is many FREE schools are just ps at home and are administrated through the ps. (They are losing money to homeschoolers).

If you want school just at home then that's fine but if you are looking to avoid ps curriculum and interference in your life then don't do k12,etc.

Free school is called the library & a Bible... seriously! It can be done.

Homeschool oasis (http://www.homeschooloasis.com) has some great articles on diplomas, accredidation, etc.
