Take in order to make sure since one day does not really cause significant side effects compared to not taking it which will make the bacteria more resistant to doxycycline the next time you take it. I assure your safety...no risk!!!

It depends why you're taking doxycycline. If it is for an active infection, you probably should take an extra dose. You do risk some side effects like diarrhea or getting burned easily by the sun.

However, most people on doxycycline take it for months or years for acne or something similar. In that case, you are not really treating an infection, so it won't matter too much if you skip the dose. When used for acne, rosacea, or some eyelid conditions, doxycycline mostly works by changing the composition of the skin's oil secretions so pores won't get plugged up as much.

There is no danger if an extra dose is taken just once, but missing one dose can breed a resistant strain of bacteria.
