You didn't mention what country you're in. I'm guessing US? If so, they all suck.

I like JetBlue because they have satelite TV at all the seats, but they don't fly that many places.

Southwest can be nice if the flight isn't full because they don't assign seats so if you sit near the back in an aisle or window seat, and put a jacket or bag on the middle seat, no one will sit there unless the flight is full, so you can get extra room that way. But the downside is they don't assign seats, so you have to get their early.

United and Continental are virtually indistingishable to me. I usually can't even remember which of the two I was flying for any given experience. I've had good and bad experiences with both. Mostly bad.

Alaska Airlines advertises their frequent flier program over the speakers on many flights, but they usually have pretty snack mix stuff in place of peanuts or pretzels with drinks, and they gave out $20 gift certificates to a resturant to all their passangers around the holidays this year (at least on the flight I was on they did - I don't know how many flights they gave these out on, or for how long). And they don't complain when I carry my rabbit on the plane without paying the pet fee.

USAir makes you pay for food on long flight. And they often don't have all the advertised meals they say they'll have for sale. That sucks if your a vegitarian and the one meal they advertise that doesn't have meat they don't actually have on that flight.

There aren't any airlines that I've flown on that consistently have newer planes or TV screens in each seat rather than up above every few rows (except JetBlue, as previous mentioned). Generally some of their planes are nicer than others and it's pretty much just luck. And as far as I know, they all have the same amount of leg room (or lack thereof).

If you're willing to pay for a more pleasant flight, fly first class. Otherwise just go with the cheapest tickets and bring a video iPod and a hamburger. And if you buy your tickets really early, you can try to get exit row seats, which have about twice as much leg room as anywhere else on the plane.

If they are flying to where I want to go, I use Midwest Airlines as much as possible. Their 717 aircraft are set up in a business class configuration with extra legroom, wider seats, extendable headrests, and extendable footrests. There are no seatback tv's, but you can rent a DVD player on a long flight. The Mader's food sold on board is excellent and worth the price. If I cannot use Midwest, I use Continental. I have never had a problem with Continental.

Hi,

Definitely not United - They are by far the worst, Alaskan Airlines is also terrible.

The best in the USA is Jet Blue. The best in Canada is West Jet. Both these airlines have leather seats with inseat live television. They offer competitive prices on airfares as well.

Check their website to see if they fly to the areas you like.

Another great airline will be starting soon in the US called Virgin America.

:)

If money isn't a concern, Continental Airlines really has decent service, more leg room, newer fleet and friendly employees, which lately in the world of airline money and pension woes says something..... I've had really good experiences with them and they are my first choice if they fly where I am going.

The new AirTran has TVs in all their seats. But For quality It has to be American or of course Continental.

If you don't mind spending more, hands down Continental & Express Jet wins.
