They see humanity dangling by a thread over a firey pit. If they weren't afraid, they'd be insane.

Probably six of one, half a dozen of the other. There IS the fear that if you don't have faith, you'll spend eternity in Hell (whatever your religion dictates Hell to be). On the other hand, you could be so strong in your faith that there's no point in fearing of going to Hell. You're confident that you've served God (or Whoever) like you were supposed to, and that He won't punish you like everyone else.

No, my faith is growing, but, tell me, what do I have to fear? Nothing in this world can bring me permanent harm as God can undo anything that happens to me, including death, and I do not fear God in a morbid way as others do, but out of fear of displeasing my Father. God does not punish people in a burning Hell, that is what the churches teach to put fear in people to keep them in church and giving them their money. It's a lie of Satan's to make God look wicked.
