I totally agree with Tiefroter Kub. ask questions about the person's condition, what the doctors say, what's the treatment going to be about. Always show concern about how the person is going through treatment and be with the person anytime, anytime he/she needs someone around...
Sorry Tiefroter, i wanted to give u a positive rating but i clicked on the wrong option....

Ask what kind, where they are treated, and what you can do to help (but MEAN IT!). Be supported but do not feel sorry for them. Be strong and stay positive so that they will. If it is a friend or family member offer to do things for them while they are going through treatment.

If it was a complete stranger I would say"You poor
Bastard don't look at me for a hand out"!
And if It was someone I knew I would act sorry
and change the conversation real quick like"What
do ya think you'll be doing in 10 years.?"
And If I was related to them I'd be really sad and
would do what I could to help them out.!

Your question is too in gereral.
I've lost 5 blood relatives inside of one yr. including my brother and my grandmother. I've become so numb from it all that it has strengthened my heart.
Um, did you see the Jazz game last night?

I would say, be careful to not make sudden movements and injure yourself during treatment. If your not in treatment than I have a phone. If your a sado-masochist then I'm armed. Think I have my answers covered somewhat.

Say that I am sorry to hear that and ask if they are doing okay with it or if tthey have someone to talk to. If they wanted to talk, I'd listen.

I would ask what kind and what stages it is in. Also, that I would be glad to go with them through doctor visits, treatments, etc. for moral support.

i would ask what kind, and ask if they need someone to lean on, and tell them i am there for them..
unless it was a complete stranger, and then i'd offer them a free hug.
