When I was in college I used to brag I knew everyone at the Mall. I used to love going to the mall and show up how I would say HI to everyone. I knew everyone working at Abercrombie, Banana Republic, Gap, the video game stores, the music stores, Macy's, the health fitness shops, I knew everyone. The same thing at restaurants. I would know all the waiters at Chili's, Applebee's, TIGF, and others. I used to brag about it because those places tend to want to hire good looking people.
I'm 25 now, I'm that old. But still, I go the mall now, and I just don't know the people who work there. I eventually run into someone, but I no longer brag about it. I think it's kind apathetic they are still working there. Same thing when I go to Red Lobster or something, and see people I know as waiters still working there.

At what age does it become pathetic to work in places like those?

I'm in college and i work at a restaurant. I work with many people that are over 25, and some that are over 30. A few of the servers have actually worked there for 15 years are are in 40-50's. I'm not sure of actual ages, but one has a grandchildren that are teenagers.

I feel that it is a personal choice of where you want to work. Some people just don't have the education to work somewhere else. I mean why would they work somewhere for 10 dollars an hour or somewhere they do not need an education, when they can make more as a server?

My mother works as an aide in a high school, that's not considered one of the jobs your talking about, but I make more money than she does, so what does it matter who works where as long as their happy?

Maybe I should not be this way, but I think that those jobs should be reserved for teenagers. I personally have goals that I am working towards. I do not look down on those people, I just think that they must not be as fortunate as me.

well young people tend to stop working at those places and move on, but you know, when i go to the grocery store, there are old people working there.. and they are nice old people. does that make them bad people for having a low-paying job? are lawyers better people because they make more money? people are too judgmental.
