Don't own one if you are not able to take care of it while on holiday. What if you go back to Hong Kong. Its such an unfriendly place for dogs. Many apartments do not allow pets and dogs are kept indoor all the time. Its like Anne Frank all over again.
Then again what happen if you leave Singapore for good. No one wants an older dog so it will have to be put to sleep. Bad fengshui for you and your family. What happen if dog is reincarnated buddha? No more good luck for dad when he visit happy valley.
Suggest you go to your friend house and play with his dog. Its just as fun but less heartbreaking.

Many dogs have no problem in this hot climate like Singapore. If you're living in a HDB apartment, please make sure the breed you're getting is HDB approved. Bigger breeds like the husky needs a lot of space to roam. Huskies have very thick undercoat and shed a lot. If you're prepared to spend money and time for regular grooming, you have no problem keeping a husky. Always ensure that fresh water is available for the dog.

Please be prepared that some dogs catch fleas or ticks after their stay at the pet hotels. Though all pet hotels made a compulsory must for all pets to go through de-tick before they can be allowed to stay in the pet hotel. However, if you do put your dog in a pet hotel, get recommendations from friends or ask favor from a reliable friend to take care of your dog.

Keeping a dog is a lifetime committment. Discuss with the family about the issue. I strongly suggest that someone stay in the house to take care of the dog while the rest of the family go overseas. My family never take holidays together. We take turns. Our dog is part of our family member. We won't leave her in the hands of a stranger.

Dogs are a lot of responsibility with vet bills, grooming issues, daily exercise, potty training, training to fit in your family unit, proper nutrition, hydration, dental care, and all the supplies involved is a commitment. Then there are the laws you need to know relating to dogs.Dogs take a lot of time and patience for good results. I think you may not be ready yet for a dog. Wait 6 months and you may change your mind. If after 6 months you have lost interest in dog ownership this may indicate you shouldn't get one. Have a nice spring.

Main thing when you live in hot climates or when the weather is very hot is provide a shady place outdoors, taking walks at night or early morning because cement and pavement can get very hot and can burn their feet , make sure the dog has plenty of water to drink and a bonus which many dogs enjoy in a childs pool to lay in to cool off. like so

As for holidays it is best if you can take your dog with you,
some dogs become extremely stressed and sick if left when boarded, or stay home, plus 3 months is a long time to a dog, in human terms it would like be left for a couple years

A lot of countries have a Quarantine period, so you should check that before you plan on bringing a dog into a new country.
