I use my elements to describe the human nature, and I've broken then down into 3 categories: nature, warrior, and celestial.
Nature:
Earth(including plants and rocks)- The element of structure. usually characterized by a strong will or firm beliefs.
Fire- The dynamic element. Usually characterized by strong elemtional force.
Water(including ice)- The element of change and balance.
Lighting/Thunder- The element of decision.
Warrior:
Wind- The element of freedom.
Snipe- The element of knowledge. Usually the person notices things otherwise missed.
Break- The element of power. Usually characterized by a person's ability to influence others.
Sword- The element of determination.
Celestial:
Light- The element of bonds. Usually able to relate to others, often through friendship.
Darkness- The isolated element. usually a person who chooses to remain "seperate" from others. (This doe not mean they don't have friends. The simply choose not to get too close to others)
Twilight- The polymorphic element. Usually a person who adapts their personality to different situations. (a social chameleon)
Chaos- The element of instability. A person owe is unsure of themselves and who they are.
That's how I define people. Often I choose to give then an animal as well.
Me for example:
I concider myself to be the Wolf of Light, because I can usually tell a lot about people and their nature when I meet them. And, I've found I'm often right about them.

Actually, there are a lot of elements out there most is not discover yet. It is true what you have said, but poison that either magic or chemicals. The last element is soul. I have fire, sometimes make time slow or fast, see your soul, spirit energy and psychic ability. That means God chosen you for a reason like me. Soul describes me best because my mother pass it on to me by having me from God blessing. most those elements you can learn in black and white magic.

It various and it's not final. Depends on what type of elements we're talking about here. For me, they been the following...
Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth, Wind, Water, Plant, Poison, Holy, and Darkness.
You can thank much of that due to video games, mainly RPGs.
There is none that best describes me.
