I swear by a bottle of magnesium citrate... it's a saline solution (ready to go at the drugstore) comes in different flavors, Costs about a dollar.
You drink half of the bottle (6 oz I think) and within a couple of hours, you go.... no cramping, no pain nothin. If you don't go in a couple of hours, you drink the other half a bottle.
I discovered this after I had surgery and got extremely constipated.... I tried everything my doctor told me, then the pharmacists recommended this one.... now I always have a bottle on hand.
Good Luck!

U should eat more fruits and vegetable, instead of juz taking fiber pills. Try sitting on the toilet bowl, and read books. Maybe after sittin 4 a while,u will be able to pass ur stool. This worked 4 me. I took 1 of my favourite book and read while sittin on then toilet bowl. After a while i was able to pass my stool.
If it still doesn't work, then u should take stool softener or consult a doctor.
Wish my answers helped u!!
Good Luck!!!

They dont always help, eat loads of fruit and vegetables, if that doesnt work you could always really try prune juice from the health shop or epsom salts (in warm water) but fibre tablets aren't as good as the actual powder so says my chemist they may be easier to take but not as good for you, we had castor oil as kids every friday night, but i wouldnt wish that on anyone, epsom salts isnt much better but it works you can even put it in the bath instead of drinking it but dont stay in there too long as its not good for you, I hope that helps goodluck!

Try a stool softener - there are some otc ones - they are natural in a pill - it worked for me when I was going through Chemo (which constipated me). Called Doculax, or something like that. Also drink more water! There's no substitute for water, except maybe Propel and/or Gatorade, but Gatorade is too salty for me.

i'm a surgical intern and a lot of my patients deal with this. i suggest taking metamucil or benefiber once in the morning. refrain from taking anything by pill, those will have the refersive effect. eat a diet of healthy foods and keep away from anything with grease.
best of luck~

Prunes, or prune jiuce, seriously. It is recommended if you are constipated in the hospital by morphine or tylenol-3, it should work in a day or two.

Dairy products or drinking coffee works. Both cause your digestive system to function and also affects your colon and causes things to break up.
