I don't know about the hand cramps, but when my mom started getting leg cramps that woke her up at night, she began taking a magnesium supplement, and that helped her a lot.

Chi Guy and I must know cramps for sure! Have your mom
be sure she is taking at least 500 milligrams of Calcium
every day in addition to a multi-vitamin, name brand or
generic. It is my problem, also, if I skip three days calcium.
The horrid cramps won't subside unless I jump out of bed
and stand tip toe, then down, tip toe & down to flex muscle.
I can drop a pan or pot of coffee when my calcium reserve
is too low. A morning dose may stop them entirely.
For years, I took 1200 milligrams of calcium per day until
I read of a study that too much may contribute to brittle
bones. Better age women seem to be taking 500-600 Mg.
www.swansonvitamins.com has the cheapest CalciBoost
in 120 softgels I have ever found taken 2 per day. I bet
Chi Guy and I are right!

Have her take 2 tbls,. apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before a meal and before bed. Has 93 vitamins and minerals. The elderly do not drink enough water as well. She must do light exercises to help get the deposits out of her joints and muscles. Read the apple cider vinegar cures website. There is a show called sit and be fit. I can never get my mother to do any type of exercise; hence her body does not respond to acv. I have arthritis as well but mine is practically nonexistent because I exercise every day.

Old age brings certain problems with them and sometimes the most we can do is to alleviate them. Just keep the pain spray handy.

Sometimes a lack of potassium can cause cramps. Potassium pills or bananas may help unless this is caused from poor circulation. I sincerely hope you find a solution soon.

She may have poor circulation, and that could be due to a blood or a poor vascular system. Have her seen by her MD. Arthritis affects joints, joints don't cramp! Muscles cramp.

Have her try a cup of milk before going to bed. Calcium and/or potassium deficiencies often induce cramping.
