Ok, go sit somewhere where there are a LOT of people. A cafe, or a park bench, or a mall. Then listen. It takes a while but listen to the snippets of conversation you hear as people walk past.

I'm actually thinking of creating a story based purely around people I see around me.

Also, live your story. I once wrote a 400 page sci-fi novel. I took inspiration from everywhere. The different looking people at college became the different species populating my universe. The birds in the skies became dogfights amongst ships. Modern day technology was taken to the nth degree, and became the technology in my story.

You're 13. It's a great age to start writing. Your mind is so fresh, so full of ideas and imagination. Don't lose it.

Can you look at a map and see the different parts of Africa? Can you google history of Africa? Maybe you could put pictures in your story too.

Also, ask an adult to tell you about the movie or book called Roots by Alex Haley.

Good luck.

Well, you could write a story about your life. Just don't write down the things like brushing your teeth and etc.
Try writing down all the happy, sad, angry stuff all in a diary.
After that, arrange them, edit them, to make it more interesting. Describe feelings, facial features and all that. After that, come up with a conclusion that you made.
For example, if this is about your love life, write the way you wanted his attention, write your experiences, and write down all the humiliating and mushy stuff.
And if in the end it stinks, say: "My conclusion is: LOVE STINKS!"
I suggest you write something no one has ever experienced before. Or you can just make it up like someone else's life.
It's my suggestion of a new story if you think you don't have any ideas for the current story.

There will be a moment here while you will ponder. You have a story already to take hold. The story is about a girl. She is a fifteen year old. While walking along the road talking you became interested in something she said. It intrigued you to find out if there was a place. A place that isn't known to anyone.
A place that is a mystery. You have decided to find that place and that is where your story begins.
A story is journey and yours has just begun.

well you don't mention anything about her memories of it she was adopted at birth or anything of the sort
you could make it so that she remembers some of the words or some of the traditional clothing and all that stuff
she could research all of that stuff and find a couple tribes that fit the criteria, but that might be too easy
it's all yours now

You can start byjust free writing and if nothing comes, then write down the main things that are going to happen in your story, chapter by chapter, and try to incorporate that into sentences and paragraphs. Good luck!
