is it best to let a phone battery drain completly before recharging it or to never let it die completly to prolong the life of the battery for as long as possible

and does this apply to all batteries
and BTW its a Lithium Ion Battery

Let it die until your phone gives the low battery warning. It helps you battery hold its charge. The result of you not letting it be uncharged for a while, means the battery is being able to use itself. If you charge it while it doesnt need to be, means the battery will use memory while you charge it when it doesnt need to be charged because it trys not to over charge itself.

Lithium won't matter, either use it or keep it on charge, it is stable

NiMH is ok to drain is well but it will lose a charge on its own if it is left off the charger, but might take a week, but when you go to use it it might die on you, keep it in charger when you can.

I forget the batteries that came before NIMH, those batteries would get a memory and would not discharge when they did not get run completely down, but I don't think they are around any more.

i charge mines every night wnen i go to bed. it's charging all night long and i never had a problem.
