Well it was called the heart of the ocean, I think since the man she loved died in the ocean i think she felt that the heart belonged there too. That is just my opinion.

She wanted it to be with the one she loved Jack Dawson. I'm not sure why she didn't sell it when she was in her prime. Maybe because it was her little secret. Did you see the alternate ending? In the alternate ending it was to because there's more to life then money.

HAHAHA i ask myself the same thing. I don't know, i think she might have done it, because she wanted it to fall into the ocean, around the same spot where the other guy died, or where she was there, almost about to die? i dont know, :]

because its the end of the story and she wanted it to send it back to the ocean where it belonged..its also the moment she dies that night so she was just putting things back in place

it was stolen property anyway... she'd probably get thrown in jail if she was caught selling it on the black market.

plus it gave a nice segway (sp?) into the mysterious "wrap up" scene on the sunken ship.
