I don't understand how to catch a predator can show these guys on t.v.? When you watch cops somebody clearly did a crime yet they block out their face. Why??

the people who were taped have to sign a release for nbc to show their face, and if the camera is in a public place it's legal to shoot whatever footage you want, as long as the camera is exposed, now dateline will problly try to get the release for free, if not then they will pay for it, so since the guys busted will need money for lawyers, they sign the release thus making funny things for us to watch at home

Chris Hansen answer that question in his new book to
catch a predator"
its because since Dateline a news broadcast and is under the control of the NBC news dept so they have to film people and use their names on TV
without first getting their consent of the person

I'm not sure but on cops, all those people that are getting arrested actually sign release forms to get on TV.

I know that sounds strange, but I learned of it during a behind the scenes episode of cops.

Because the ones on Cops didn't sign a waiver or Consent.

they can show these guys on TV because they are public offenders, and under the sexual offenders act, they can be shown........... they are people who have been convicted of a sex offence, and are on the sex offender registry, therefore the public has the right to knwo what their pretty little faces look like..... thank god.

I wish they showed their faces in agony as they were being cut stem to stern with a rusted tile knife then doused with acid.

Don't know, and don't care. NBC has ridden that horse for too long now. They've become a one trick pony. Like Maury and his paternity tests.

I'd assume for the same reasons there's a sex offender registry.
