Mono is called the kissing disease because it is transferred through saliva. I hope you don't spit in customers food! LOL People most contagious when fever is present. If you don't feel good, don't go to work. Mono will take forever to get over if you overdo it. Need to find balance of activity and rest. Get drs excuse. If mgr gives you crap, ask him how many years of medical school did he go through to become a restaurant mgr.

Do not go to work. I was diagnosed with it recently so I still have it. Mono makes you tired and doing physical activities makes it worse. My doctor told me that I shouldn't go anywhere for the first two weeks. I didn't. I was in a lot of pain and very tired so I told my boss what my doctor said and took two weeks off from work. I didn't go anywhere. The best thing for you to do it to get lots and lots of rest. That's very stupid and selfish of your boss to expect you to keep working. If you keep working it will take more than two weeks for the pain and inflammation to go away. If when you tell your boss this, they still want you to work, get an evaluation or not from your doctor. You are contagious. You're contagious for about six months and you can have the virus in your body for up to a year.

Momo Is called the kissing disease because it is very contagious , You should not be around people and it takes a doctor to tell when you are no longer contagious . This may be a way to get income help from your insurance . Please don't work around people never mind food with this it is dangerous for you and myself as a customer

I had mono once. I was not able to go to school for a month. Your manager is right about it not being highly contageous but if you are in pain then do not work. Mono is a very difficult disease. Try to explain to him that you do not feel well enough to go to work and make it dound much worse than it really is so he'll give you time off.

You are sick!
Don't go to work!
Get a note from your doctor excusing you from work!
If you kiss the food, or you sneeze in the food, you could pass it on to people......if it's not cooked.
Sheesh! I wouldn't want to eat at a place that an employee had mono!
I had mono when i was a preshcool teacher, and they made me take 6 weeks off!
*i was so weak, and tired, i couldn't work if i wanted to.
If your manager fires you, you can collect unemployment.
YOU take care of yourself first!
If you get a Doctor's note, you can collect State Disability.
Don't tell your manager this, but do take care, rest and drink lot's of fluids.
It's no fun and you need to put yourself first.
i didn't, mine lasted 4-6 months.
I broke out in a rash...........they thought it was chicken pox, and gave me 6 weeks off from work. And then flex hours on days i felt well so the kids wouldn't miss me. no kissing that's the rule.
Call your manager's supervisor and tell him that you have MONO and a your manager wants you to come to work sick as a dog!!!
no one in their right mind would make you work.
you have choices.
you can get another food service job.

No! When you have Mono, you are supposed to stay home, get a lot of rest, and eat a bland diet. If you don't do these things, Mono can turn into something worse (it affects the liver).
Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, decaffeinated beverages.

your manager should know that you can serve food if you have anything contagious! if you have a doctors excuse, then use it! they can't say anything to that! Restaurant managers don't want to have to worry about getting someone to cover your shift, cause they are lazy!! believe me, I know! I work at cracker barrel... and let's just say that I put up with my share of BS!!!!

no, you have to keep yourself safe by taking care of your health, but also by not working and not risking the health of others. anyways, i'm surprised you would still have the energy to work since mono usually causes fatigue. you also have an uninformed and bad manager.
