I don't have a fever. I did have chills a few days ago and on the same day i discovered that I have a white spot on the side of my throat. i picked it off with a qtip and it came back. i don't know if its because i'm a paranoid hypochondriac or what but my throat feels a little tight. and its a little sore and more so when i yawn.

Yes, it is entirely possible to have strep throat and show very few symptoms. My 15 year old daughter and I both suffer from chronic strep throat infections. We each get strep throat about 6 times a year on average. Neither one of us ever runs fever, our throats don't really hurt...it just feels a little swollen whenever we try to yawn or swallow. While most people do run fever and complain of a severe sore throat, not everyone gets those symptoms.
The white puss pocket on your throat is a pretty clear indication that you have strep throat. If I were you I would see the doctor just to be safe as strep throat typically will not clear up on it's own and can lead to more severe problems.

My daughter had these and this is what her doctor told us. In fact she had quite a few. And when she'd yawn it hurt more and there was an odor too.

From what you described, it is likely you have chronic tonsillitis. This can occur when small pockets of debris form in the tonsils, and it can be an intermittent problem. If this is the correct diagnosis, tonsillectomy is usually the best treatment to eliminate associated symptoms.

If there are no symptoms associated with the debris pockets in the tonsils (tonsilliths), then observation can be an option. Just be aware that you may be at risk for recurrent throat infections (tonsillitis) in the future, and that you should be treated if they occur.

If you had Strep you would not have minor pain.

Strep causes severe throat pain where just swallowing, muchless talking, is agony.

Probably not, you'd be a lot sicker (fever, pain) with a strep...but it can't hurt to see a Dr. to rule it out.
