Any suggestions on something nice to get my mom that my brother and I can go in on together (we're adults btw, so we're looking at spending a bit).

*We don't live in the same state as our mom, so spending an afternoon with lunch and shopping, and all that won't do.

call to the news paper center in the state your mom is in and fax over a picture of your mom...place a add saying, your two distant childrens love is far from you..but,our thoughts makes you close to us everyday..and we thank the lord for having you bless on your 50TH BIRTHDAY...make a one page big just for your mom....i am sure she will always look at the news paper all day...on the page you both made...especially,the whole public will know in her area...and also, call the news media...the more the public knows....more the love shows...........SMILE :-)

There are great websites now where you can book an activity online and pay for it online. I'm in Australia, so I don't know of any American sites to recommend to you (here it's www.godo.com.au). Activities include horseback riding, hot air balloon rides, day spas, etc.

Massages / day spa type things are also nice. Same with tickets to a musical or concert she likes.

Good luck!

How about a spa day? Any woman would love that regardless of age. And it will make her feel younger and better about herself. THAT'S a good gift for a Mom!

Well, does she like jewelry? My brothers and I got my mom a watch that she'd been wanting and she loved it. Also if she likes rings, you can get her a ring with all your birthstones. Really, YOU know your mother. Not us. I'm sure whatever you give her, she'll love. After all, it comes from the heart.

Organize a party for your mom. She's 50 and that's a great achievement for her.

Gather up your relatives, friends and neighbours and spring up a surprise party for her.

If she's into it, hire a professional male stripper to spice up the party.

Airfare for her to come visit you? Or a trip somewhere to a spa? A vacation? A shopping spree somewhere nice?

Send her a gift certificate to a day at a spa for like a facial and to get her hair done and stuff. I am sure that she would love it and it would make her feel young. :)

i would think the best gift the two of you could give her is the chance to see both of you again and to get out of her house. so why don't you guys pitch in and pay for her flight to see one of you and then for her flight to come see the other one of you. while she is with you conversation and eating together would be the best gift you could give her at that age. life is really about relationships. nurturing them, honoring them, building them and remembering them.

A gold locket on a chain with your pictures inside and inscribed "we love you" on the back of the locket.

How about a Mother's ring. It's a ring with the birthstones of all her kids.
