Humour is always the best way as far as I am concerned. The next time you might simply insult him a little more quietly.

Whatever you do, don't retaliate in any way. It will only come back to bite you in the tochis, no matter how much he's annoying you. I live in a condo complex, & the---person---next door has to walk by my front door to get to the elevator or whatever, every day. Everyone calls her the "Prozac B****" & I suspect she's really mentally challenged. She screams obscenities at her husband at 2 or 3a right outside my bedroom room & breaks very rule in the CC&R book. A couple of times when she freaked out my cat, (3a), I called the police & said PLEASE not to let her know it was me. When she found out I'd been elected to the HOA board, she started shoving me whenever we encountered each other on the common walkway. You sometimes HAVE to bite your tongue & go along with your life. One very important thing to remember, is that people like this are salivating for YOU to something so they can get "revenge." Like keying your car, or letting air out of the tires (she's done that to others) & you have a full blown war. That's exactly what they want. If your neighbor is doing something against the law, report them. Get your neighbors to support you. I truly feel for you, because I'm a "fighter" but not unless I know I can win.
EDIT: Just thought of something else. A friend suggested I really shove her back, but you know what? She'd charge me with assault & battery & that would be more hell.

Buy a BBQ and roast lots of tasty meats on it. You only need to do this once or twice, then fire it up and the smell will still be as tempting. It drives neighbors mad.
But, think of getting a CCTV camera that can video your property and his. Then in any future confrontations, you'll have video proof to back you up.
There was a couple in the U.S. who had a bad neighbor and put up motion sensor lights. Everytime this guy walked out the door at night flood lights would light up everything. The health dept. eventually busted him for allowing his basement to become an open sewer because his septic lines had broken and he was too cheap to fix them.
So, it may not be his bothering of you that will get him but something else that he's doing that's against the law. Good luck.

You were charged with "breach of the peace", were you convicted? If so, you apparently crossed the line. There are laws to protect you and your neighbors from a "harassing neighbour". Perhaps you should get together with them and do things in a legal way with an attorney? The results might be better than losing control and accomplishing nothing except the thought that you were "humorous". I'm on your side.

Neighbourly disputes can escalate into very dangerous and stressful situations. Your home is meant to be your sanctuary. I can think of nothing worse that having something like that to come home to.
I suggest you keep a log of any incidents and seek advice from your Citizen's Advice bureau about your rights. If your neighbour has been damaging your property, you can set up surveillance cameras to gather evidence for prosecution but you must be careful not to violate any privacy laws. Don't be tempted to enter into "tit for tat" behaviour and don't be abusive yourself -this can make the problem worse and weaken your position as the injured party. Try a mediation service, if you can settle any problems to your mutual satisfaction, you may save yourself future hassle. If ever in doubt, call the police. If your neighbour is really antisocial, it may be possible to get them evicted from the area if enough complaints are made.
Best of luck

Moto I'm sorry you have this problem. I have had neighbour problems now for many years. It's constant and strange but we have just had to ignore them and get on with our lives. I just have nothing to do with them even when they start trying to aggravate me. I must admit that I feel bullied sometimes and I wish to be as far away from them as possible. But I can't and I don't want war. If you have a NUTTER the chances are they will stay a NUTTER.

On A personal level every time you see him imagine him in a nappy.
On a law level kept a diary of every event, in my experience when the police call on him to warn him it generally stops.
On a revenge level wait your time..........and if he has a car place two day old mackerel near the radiator, insert old fish in the runner of his seats so that it does start to smell and it is the last place to look. The more the seats are moved the more the fish is spread and finally bread in the exhaust. This revenge using the fish and bread is a very christian revenge.

As someone who put up with a lousy neighbor for 30 yrs I advise you on this dont provoke them let them do what ever they want on thier side of your very new very tall fence . I dont know in what type of community you live in where you d be charged with breech of peace , now hes old I take it on your comment to take his pills now this is the way to really piss him off keep a radio on your front or rear porch which ever you have your dispute with this neighbor when he starts just turn on your radio and ignore him DO NOT let him run you off your porches if he does he'll belive that all he has to do is it again and again to get his way , now also never never go onto his property ever for any reason to anything dont speak to him or anyone on his property even if they speak to you first , now heres the fun because you dont go onto his property the first time he comes on yours call the cops on him for trespass cops wont arrest him most likely but theyll make sure to tell him to stay off your property and to leave you alone . Now again I lived next door to two very hateful mean people for over 30 yrs they are dead now and thats sad but I dont have to put up with ther crap anymore THANK THE STARS ABOVE

I would not provoke him. I have a neighbor who hangs chicken bones on the fence for my dog. We just ignore her and have an big inside dog now. The cost of a home is too hight to risk on a neighbor.

Believe me I've had to dela with neighbours from hell itself numerous times & from experience I can tell you the best way to deal with them is to have nothing to do with them, I mean don't talk to them, don't give them any signs that you're in intersted in them or are in anyway communication with them.
avoid & ignore them!
They're people with chips on their shoulders who are looking for someone to dumo their problems on, & who better than someone who can't get away or avoid them & lives next to them?
As the bible says: "Blessed is he who stands out of the way of the wicked".
If you need help & advice, please go to this site, it's really a gem of a site:
