You are not in the wrong, but neither is your mother. She is just being a Mum and looking out for you. Im sure If you spoke with her and explained how you felt that she would understand. If you have not moved out of home before then your Mother is just doing what she has always done. She Probably doesnt even know that shes doing it.

Depends, are you still in highschool or are you in college? Highschool i can understand it to a certain extent since you have early mornings every morning, while college is alot different with an independent schedule and different studying habit.
It may be she's trying to get you to go to bed so that she can get some sleep, or that she doesn't realize she's doing it. She's been mothering you so long its just second nature.
Have a heart to heart with her, not an angry accusative "im 18 i get to do what i want now" talk, keep it calm.

u r right because u r 18 and a grown up. grown ups control their own lives but the postive part of this is that u will get enough sleep and thats important talk 2 your Mom and let her know how u feel and ask how she would feel if that was done 2 her. u r 18 and i would work on moving out if i were u and if attached 2 your family move living close and visit when possible!GOOD LUCK!!!

I could do the old stand by Her house her rules. What you do not say is whether or not you are loud while you are up. Maybe you are disrupting her and SHE needs to get to bed. You also don't say what time it is she is trying to get you to bed at. If you are keeping her up and she needs to sleep than she has a point. If it is just because she still wants to tell you what to do than that is another issue. If you can be quiet enough for her to get to sleep at the time she wants to and you are still keeping up with the things you have to do than it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe she is trying to make sure you stay healthy because no matter what you are still Her baby

I'm 18 too and my mom tried to control me all the time too, but not with a bed time. She'll not let me go anywhere by myself, things like that, treating my like I'm 10. She does have her opinion because I'm living in her house but because she tells me not to do it, that will just make me want to do it more. If your mom let you stay up how ever late you wanted, you might not want to do it as much.

im 25 and everytime i visit my mum or she visits me.. she still makes sure to tell me to go to bed at an appropriate time .. infact she even cooks my meals and i have to eat em...theyre just concerned and after a cetrain age stuff like bed times and food is all they feel they can do to show their love and concern... how about we jus respect that and doesnt mean we have to listen all the time but let em feel like theyre being heard and we know they care and we appreciate their concern ! thats all they really wanna know !!!

look the fact that you are 18 makes you feel as if now you can do and go where you like and you can.but as long as you live under her roof you must abide by her rules no matter how it makes you feel. its about respect in order to recieve it you must give it.

Maybe you should try listening to her. She is your mother after all. She and your father are paying the rent aren't they??? You are living under their roof. You should try listening to them. Do you pay for the rent??? The groceries??? Do you also help around the house??? Or does your mother have to get after you for that as well???
