Never mind about the brand names. No matter what you pick, you're going to find people who have a negative opinion about it; and 99% of the time, their opinion is based only on what they've read and heard from other people (who got their own opinions the same way).

As far as the system you've listed goes, run from that head unit like it just ate your dog. Either you've listed the wrong model number or you've been misinformed on the features of that deck. The Sony CDX-GT210 is designed for people who don't intend to add amplifiers; if you want to add an amp, you want a pre-amp output on the deck. The 210 has neither pre-outs or an amp remote turn-on. You can get both these features in a Sony deck by spending just a little more money, and it will include a volume control for the subwoofers.

Your amplifier isn't a great match for the subs. It will do okay, but when you have two 4-ohm subwoofers the best match is usually a mono amp. The Sony stereo amp won't deliver all the power that the speakers are rated to handle. If you can find a mono amp rated for around 700-800 watts RMS at 2 ohms, that will match up well with the subs. It does not have to be a Sony amp.

The amp you have listed will work, it just won't drive the subs to their maximum capacity. You're going to get people telling you that you can blow the subs easily with too low power an amp; this is a common myth--it's not true. You won't endanger the subs using the amp you have listed, but there are other amps that will do better.

Finally, when looking at power ratings, always ignore Peak or Max power outputs. Look only at RMS power ratings.

honestly, no its not. for a start and on a budget it is though. personally i hate sony audio products. on the HU you usually want a little more from the pre-outs. mine give 4 and its a kenwood, which still is not the best but i am content with it.

you are going to want to ditch those subs and pick up something like kickers or JL's or type r's. maybe l7's for intense systems...

for an amp get like a profile or rockford. at average you want like 2000w 4-channel amp. otherwise if you want a boomer then go for like 4000 amp.

preamps are for amps {dur, haha} (some HU's may include seperate ones for sub too).

as long as you like your system, thats all that matters. everyone out there that may say your system blows or w/e, it doesnt matter. if you like it, then thats all that matters... if u have any more questions e-mail me at switch@zoominternet.net

usually crutchfield provides a range of items to glance through, but i would suggest only buying a HU from there, as it will come with all needed harnesses for your car and step by step instructions. the reason why you should only browse and not buy is only because normally you can find the same product at different stores/sites at a cheaper price. i mean sure, if the prices are the smae, go with crutchfield. anything u get comes with very detailed instructions to install the item(s).
