We are all supposed to be footstep followers of Jesus Christ. He is our savior in that he gave his life a ransom to buy us back and out of Adamic sin.
Jesus did not celebrate his birthday. His mother and relatives didn't celebrate theirs either. In fact it was a pagan practice.
We have no part with ungodly practices.
John the Baptist was beheaded because Herodius wanted his head on a platter because John told her she was living in sin with her brother in law. So she told her daughter Salome to dance for her uncle and ask for his head.
Herod reluctantly granted her wish.
We want to do what is pleasing in God's eyes. God doesn't approve of worldly holidays either as these mix paganism and debauchery with holiness. They adulterate the truth.
To please God well we must seek to find what his will is and do it.

In Jehovah's Witnesses, they are not supposed to celebrate birthdays because it gives too much importance to the person and not to god. In fact, JW's do not celebrate birthday parties, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, or other unbiblical celebrations. Even Christmas and Easter are not celebrated as they are pagan holidays.
They claim that Mother's Day and Father's Day are intended to "worship" the parents, which has no biblical origin and that Easter has no biblical origin and is therefore pagan. Both of their opinions here are correct but who cares?? One can celebrate any of these holidays without forgetting their religion.
Seems silly to me. While it's not a Christian (or religious) requirement to celebrate your birthday nor is it mentioned repeatedly in the bible, what is the harm in celebrating with your family, especially your parents, the fact that you were born and that you are loved here on earth?

Um, no, that's not the reason. I don't celebrate my birthdays because I don't feel they have any meaning, for the same reason I don't celebrate "New Year" or any other anniversary for that matter. Time is just time, I go along with it to the extent that I do because it's convenient, but it's not meaningful.
Also, I don't like being told when to bestow - or receive - gifts.

Well how sad and silly too. Poor kids. We should all celebrate the day that God gave us life. What a wacky theology that is not to celebrate. So sad... I celebrate every year and want all my friends to do so with me. The 2 most important days of the year, if you ask me, are Christmas and one's birthday.. Oh, yeah... I know the whole Easter thing... but this is something else.

There are only 2 times birthdays are mentioned in the bible and they were about pagans and people who God did not favor. Also, it is not a requirement to celebrate your birthday in order to serve God well.

I don't give any credence to biblical nonsense, but I believe you are referring to the recently invented Jehovah"s Witness cult. The don't celebrate anything, don't participate in political matters, and will not serve to defend their country. They would also rather see their loved ones die than allow blood transfusions.

I think it's because they don't want to subtract from some "glory-to-god-thing" since god doesn't have a birthday himself - of course, that's all just a lot of religious nonsense, isn't it.
There are no gods in the first place.... What a lot of BS religion is, eh?
