I am here to personally thank you for taking the time to do so.

I figured this kind of forum would be full of people just having fun, but I have received many informed and honest answers here.

Thank You!

Pilots are a special group of people, MM. As a group, you will find that pilots are a gregarious, sociable and very honest bunch and we love to "hangar fly". It's how we help each other be better pilots. And to be perfectly honest with you, there's not much I enjoy more than sharing 46 years of flying with a new pilot. Where my life is winding down, it's guys like you that will keep my greatest joy in life going after I depart the runway for the last time.

Personaly, for me, its just that pilots are "from a different breed"... I love to help people with aviaition moslty because I love flying, talking about flying, thinking about flying, dreaming about flying... The way I look at it is that since I dont make much, doing what i do, I have to look at it as a hobby that I get paid for, I think I speak for alot of pilots when I say I would do it for free if I could... Its the will of pilots to help pilots that drives me to answer questions on here... besides, its my favorite hobby and occupation, what more could you ask for, why not share it with others?

At least two retired fighter pilots, Ray and me. We answer questions for all the reasons Ray listed and because the wrong answer could cost someone dearly. As an aside, there is only one stupid question: the one not asked.

Probably because there are so many bad answers. Nothing bugs an expert more than an unsound or badly answered question, regardless of how good the intent.

Pilots always forget about the crew chief until things hit the fan. Geez, no love (just kidding)

Ray is right. Too bad the other categories dont have anywhere close to as many professionals, if any.
