being able to prophecy doesn't mean you tell the future. a prophet is someone who hears what God is saying and relays the messege to whoever it is for. Its not hard to prophecy, in fact, God is always speaking to you...you just have to listen. Have you ever just looked at somebody and seen a picture or thought of a word that may have sempt completely random to you? most likely (not always) that is God telling you something about that person....you just have to ask him what it means. To put it simply, a prophet is a messenger from God

A prophet is someone called by God to lead the people and has visions or other communication with the Lord or his servants. He is to lead all who will listen and usually has insight into future events given by the Lord.

Many mistakenly believe that a prophet is a person who fortells the future. It simple means a preacher. Some of the prophets foretold the future, but not all.

To be a prophet, it means that you would have the ability at least one time to foresee what was to happen in the future. However, someone is never declared a prophet until after the event occurs. Anything other than that would be an assumption.

Someone who has been given an understanding from God, about God. It isn't necessarily about the future. And I think that not everyone who prophecies is a prophet, I think they have to do it frequently, but that is just my thought, it's not necessarily Biblical.

wtf? What's with the "divine inspiration" twaddle? To be a prophet you have to tell the future. How do we know you're a prophet? your predictions come to pass. What does it mean to be one? I'd expect there are a lot more party invitations and groupies. And of course every religion in the world is out to get you because you're now a threat to their set of prophets.

To me being a prophet is to spread the Word of God. To not only speak the word of Jesus, but to believe and do them.

For Jesus said, if you love keep my sayings, I love Jesus, because I believe in his words.
