I have had these sores on my scalp for three years. Been taking antibiotics for them but each time they come back, rather quickly they come back more painful.sick of being on antibiotics its not good for long term and expensive. I used to think it was MRSA but cultures gave klebsiella and enterobacter (maybe I have more, I only got the cultures done twice), but sores come back after antibiotic course. I got HIV test and all sorts of STD test (all this after 6 mos of last sex activity) and was negative. my doc doesnt think this has anything to do with STD. he did a CBC thinking there was a problem with my immune system but that too was fine. he thinks its a glandular oil secretion problem and so incurable. I am so depressed hearing this, want to give up on life. I dont know what to do anymore. My lymph nodes on my neck and head are also sore.my prior derm doc thought it could have been diet (i overdosed on coffee once).Any thoughts? any cure there? or should I change doc? IV antibio work?

did you get an allergy test from the dermatologist? if not see if you have any allergies. have you tried using a different shampoo, or stop with shampoo altogether for a while, you may be sensistive to chemicals. i hope this helps, it is all i can think of.

I havent had this problem, but I know what its like to be desperate for a solution. This might worth a shot - I worked at a nutrition store in a major city for a long time....some folks have found this helped "hopeless scalp conditions"
Try to find a shampoo that does not have sodium lauryl or laureth sulfate or fragrance. I assume he has already ruled out fragrance allergy, but itnever hurts to avoid it...
this is the best one that I know -

The reason being....
SLS has a lot of controversy surrounding it - which is all fine for people who like debate, but it does for a fact cause a condition called scruff (sp?) which looks an awful lot like anunrelenting case of psoriasis or seborreah...
And if you have some irritation going on in the scalp - its going to be a lot more sensitive to anything else going on in the meantime.
While it might not fix the problem, it might help...
Good Luck.

I'd start looking at rare diseases since this is something you've had for awhile, treatments have failed, and doctor(s) are baffled.

Look up autoimmune disorders (anyway), and any disease with a skin condition like yours as a side-effect.

How do you overdose on coffee!? Watch your diet really well, heck, this could even be a mild form of a food allergy. Have you seen an allergy specialist? That might be a good place to start.

Go to your local store such as walmart and buy tea tree oil.it's not expensive.use as directed and it will help. Also go to the salon in the store and get shampoo and conditioner with tea tree oil.works for itching and unclogging hair follicles.little more costly but well worth it.GNC also carries it.I wish you well.
