Religions themselves have been at the base cause of a great deal of suffering in this world so from that standpoint, an absence of religion would be better. However, I am not talking about the absence of a relationship with our creator. I believe that is pure and good in all ways. Man made religions and it has been the following of those "how to's" that has gotten us in trouble.

I don't know if I believe that there would be less wars ... people are always going to find something to diagree about. However, it would cut down on this middle east versus the western world terrorism crap. All of that is based on religion ... they have that "us versus the infidels" mentality that makes them more than happy to blow themselves up in order to take a few of us out with them.
As far as people suffering depression -- I think that there would be more of us that actually do something about our bad situations, instead of just praying about it and waiting for a solution to fall out of the sky or accepting it as part of god's plan. I think more people would take steps to change their situation -- and not wait on some imaginary force to change it for them.
"Anyway, if you stopped tellin' people it's all sorted out after they're dead, they might try sorting it all out while they're alive." -- from the book "Good Omens", by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

Wars always go on no matter what. Besides, I believe only there is only one God. Others are all fake and wrong.
In history, there has been a lot of wars just because of religion intolerance, but lands and others. Religion intolerance could have been an excuse for something else.

most wars have nothing to do with religion at all. almost all thewars on this earth have to do with the almighty dollar or a woman. men use the name of God to do many horrible things to each other. At the core of most wars is a woman or power in the form of lots of money.i am not sure how it would affect depression.

Good question and something I have thought about many times. I think that it is highly unlikely that religion would not exist but yes I do think there would be less war but it wouldn't not exist as there is still animosity between races.

No, i don't think there would be less wars or anything. I think a lot of people would just wonder about their purpose for existing. I think there would still be depressed people because people get depressed for all sorts of reasons, not just religious ones.

What if Atheism and non-believers didn't exist? Would there be less wars as most are because of Godlessness and Wickedness. Would there be Happy people everywhere as everyone is a believer.

i feel there may be less war tension, the pains of life may be lessened. Peace may reside, stemming from there being no diffrances in belife.
