Ok. So you really need to get to know our Father. He really is miraculous. In fact, if it weren't for God, i wouldn't be alive. I went through some....trials in my life and if God weren't burning in my heart, i would've killed myself providing that i had nothing to live for. And if you can't believe, despite your efforts of yourself and us (the missions group), your gonna have to develop faith. That's what this life is for. It's a test so that our Father can know that you love him to the extent that you can't love him anymore than you do. That's what this life revolves around: Faith. Try just talking to him first. It will feel empty, providing that you don't believe him, but over time, as you reveal your problems to him in prayer, you'll start ot know him, and trust him, and ultimatley: love him. He'll be there for you, even if you aren't there for him.

Say something like, I know you are happy with your life, but if you don't do as I say you will be spending an eternity in Hell. Thank you and remember Jesus loves you. It seems to work well here.

If you must, then don't do so in a hateful way such as "either you follow His way or you're going to Hell!" That's the kind of stuff that turned many people away. Would you want to be part of something that only preached hate? Avoid being like those. And make you don't sound like you're forcing your beliefs in that it's the ONLY way in life.

On the other hand, as much as I hate my life right now, I'm not gonna have blind faith in something that may not work and lead me even further into depression. Why should I have to come to Him, instead of vice versa? Your life story won't help change my mind.

The first thing is find something in common to share with them, even if it's nothing about Christianity, like soccer. Become a friend. As you become a friend ask if you can share with them how God has kept you alive. Don't just jump in....Look at Nicodemus and the Samaritan woman at the Well. Jesus too His time and gave us an example of sharing with people. Hope that helps. God bless you on your missions trip.

I don't have to develop nuthin' and talk to no make believe friends.

Maybe I should start begging you to become like me...I'm sure you'd love it like I enjoy this... (note sarcasm if you have any sense of the word)

P.S. Isn't Mexico heavily Catholic or something like that? So why bother going?

No, it offers the non-believer nothing to actually believe, in addition, there is nothing, NOTHING in the world as rude as the assumptions that you are right about what cannot be known. Don't be a jerk. Leave them alone.

Romans 10:15 - "and how shall they carry forth, different than they be sent? because it rather is written, How pleasing are the ft of them that carry forth the gospel of peace, and placed across happy tidings of sturdy issues!"
