my partner gets a cracking/poping sensation in his chest - not constantly or anything, but every now and then. It doesnt seem to be caused by anything in particular - sounds sorta like when you crack your knuckles. What could be causing this? Is there any joints in your chest that would be able to get air trapped in them and thus crack??

Sounds like he has Costacondritis built up in his chest. This condition is where the bones & muscles rub against each other. Of course, you can't feel them rubbing but you can hear the sounds. If it gets to bad, it will cause some severe pain. He will need to go to the doctor so that he can get treatment for it. Depending on the coverage area that pops/cracks, he would get 2 to 3 shots in his chest between the bones. It hurts but the benefits outweigh the pain of the shot.

My partner has a cracking sound in chest ocassionally but hes had a broken neck, if i were him i would get some xrays done asap, could be nothing but then again it could be something serious, people tend to ignore things that dont cause much discomfort but they are usually the things that are more serious, try not
to worry but see the doctor asap, hope everything goes well for you both, goodluck!

Tell your partner to go see a doctor & have it checked. Does he smoke or have difficulty of breathing or have chronic cough? It's really unusual. The doctor will request for an xray of his chest.
