Stacy is right. Don't do it.
If your dog smells, bathe it. Use pet shampoo, not that stuff in your shower caddy.

Most perfumes have alcohol in them.
They can dry out the dog's coat.
Also, dogs are always loicing themselves. So, they digest a bit of this.
The perfume is so strong, it can give them allergies.
They probably won't like it, either.
But, your real question might be:
How can I help my dog smell better? I hate that wet dog smell!
I do too!
THere are many products on the market to help your dog smell better.
Personally, I would stay away from the cilicon base products. They put oil in the dog's coat that they don't need and this makes them feel grimey.
(personal experience).
Also, you must look on the bottle, some still have ingredients that will dry out the dog's fur.
Earthbath has a natural dog scent/perfume product.
Actually, there are many different smells.
And, if the dog ingests them, they won't hurt the dog.
But, they are more expensive, just like many natural products.
Yes, it is strange, the more chemicals that a product has in it, the less it costs!!!!
I have heard that Avon's "Skin So soft" is natural enough and will do the job.
It will not make the dog's coat feel oily, either.
But, I have not tried this one.
The Earthbath product is like a misty shampoo/cologne.
I think that website is:

i dont recommend it. If your pet is a pure breed then it is at a much higher risk of allergies and having sensitive skin. And an allergic reaction is very possible due to the differences of people skin and dog skin.
For example, the only human shampoo that should ever be used on a dog (and i personally still recommend buying a pet product) is baby tearless shampoo. So think of your pet as a baby. Would you want someone to spray Chanel all over your babys skin?? Of course not!
So go to your local petstore or look online! There are many pet perfumes and colognes that smell great and are safe to use. I recommend finding the sugar cookie it smells sooo good!

I would never put any scented perfume or doggie cologne on my dogs. Dogs have such sensitive extra-sensory noses that those rich, intense scents are just too much for their noses. They would be able to smell it all day long and I can only imagine how annoying that would be!
If you want an alternative, you can use a clean-smelling shampoo made for dogs, one that is high-premium and the scent sticks to the dog long after the bath.
I recommend High Performance shampoos, which can be bought at www.petedge.com
Also, human perfume is not made for animals, because dogs have a different pH level and the ingredients are different.

It might be- what is okay for your skin, might not be for a dog's( different chemicals and ingredients may cause allergic reactions, etc.) If you don't like the way your dog smells, there are some actual doggy colognes in some of the specialty dog stores. I tried one once. It smelt clean and fresh for about 2 days, then morphed into a strange smell, when mixed with the natural, slight doggy odor- I wouldn't recommend them because of that. I threw it out!
Just try bathing your dog in a good quality dog shampoo, if it's been several months since he's had a bath( don't want to dry out his skin and coat!) then keep right on top of a thorough, regular grooming schedule. A well groomed dog smells better, looks better and must feel better, too! Save yourself some money, and learn to groom your dog yourself, if you don't already. It's a great way to bond with your dog.
A little long winded perhaps, but hope it helps!

No, don't use human perfume. The ingredients used will be a lot more harsh than what we would use on ourselves so the dogs won't be able to tolerate it. You say you don't want to go and buy anything... all I can suggest is bear it for now then when you can be bothered go to Pets at Home. They sell loads of different sprays for your dog for when they have just been out in the rain and loads of others. I bought some for our Jack Russell and he smelt beautiful for about 4 days. =)

The noses of dogs and cats are FAR more sensitive than our own - I believe I read 10,000 times more sensitive. Perfume on dogs is a bad idea, not only for the potential allergies it could cause, but because it will dry out their coats.
There are some good products you can use, specifically for dogs, that you can use in moderation. Check out Arm & Hammer pets for ideas, Lambert Kay has a "doggie cologne" I believe.

no way!!! get some perfume for dogs!
human perfume may contain alcohol or other substances to cause inflamation on dogs skin. also, the dog may lick it. no matter what, never put human perfume on a dog.
doggy perfume is a much better and safer alternative if used in moderation

Yes! because a dogs sense of smell is 10x more then ours. So when you spray the perfume on him it smells really bad to him and really hurts his nose. Its like if you were to spray the perfume right up your nose. My dog go nuts when I spray perfume on myself. he starts sneezing and rubbing his nose in the ground, other times he runs away when i grab the bottle.

no because what if they lick it off? Plus perfume contains the same chemicals as cigs the only dif is that the perfume is not labeled so perfume is not good for humans to smell either. perfume and cigs cause the same reaction for me-bloody nose and hard to breathe
