A distant cousin is your cousin's children. My cousin just came down this weekend. All her children are my distant cousins.

A distant cousin is one that is not a first cousin but a 2nd,3rd, 4th and so on down the line

Your cousins children are your second cousins their children would be third cousins and their children fourth cousins. In my opinion anything past second cousin are distant relations, but that may be matter of opinion or culture.

pretty much any descendant in your grandma/grandpas family like the children of ur grandma/grandpas sister.
or
if you cuzin has a baby (baby is 2nd cousin), and that cousin grows up and has a baby (3rd cousin) , i think after 3rd cousin they are considered distant.
or
in my family (i have 16 aunts and uncles)
pretty much anyone you cant place.

Brothers and sisters are immediate family, first cousins are close family and second, third etc are distant cousin.
Basically you're related but don't get together but once in a blue moon. If ever.
