im trying to find out where my ancestors came from.. and my family doesn't have the time to deal with my questions.

No time for what? You asking about family past and present? Most families welcome this as it usually means that you are gaining maturity and thinking about life and what choices in life lead to. To not have time is very, very odd as everybody likes to talk about where they come from and people in the family that they knew once upon a time.

Ask them if they are ashamed of where they came from and if so let them know that they should tell you so that you can know as well.

start asking the neighbors
what they know about
your parents
...and other relatives

they'll open up
