Cigarettes are being made so that they self-extinguish if they are not puffed on. So if you drop the cigarette while sleeping or something the cigarette will go out.(provided it doesnt land on a pile of newspaper) There are rings of thicker paper in the cigarette that dont burn well unless air is sucked through the cigarette.

Are you rolling them yourself to save money like me? If so, get yourself a wonderful device called the "Premier Supermatic" cigarette rolling machine. Furthermore, once your pump the tobacco into your tubs, gently take a pair of scissors or something to gently press the loose tobacco into the head of each cigarette you roll. If you press too hard, the rolls will bend and break. Next, snip off the excess tobacco at the end of each cigarette and place it back into the tobacco filling cartridge area for the next cigarette tube. with lots of practise, I have been able to roll some very good high quality home made cigarettes this way. Usually cigarettes burn out fats, like yours when the tobacco has not been pressed down properly or you have not filled the cartridge with enough tobacco.
